"Anne of Green Gables"

Anne Shirley has touched my hearts since I was little, and I have had many friends who have been "Kindred Spirits" because of her! I have always been able to relate very well to her. Her impulsive side is one thing that I love about her...."STOP, DIANA!" "Anne you'll ruin your dress in that muddy field! Ruin it! She'll never get that cow all by herself. Come back! Stop! Anne Shirley, you are being ridiculous! Get out of the field this minute!" Then her moody, dreamy, romantic, impractical side is one that I just adore! "It's just that I went looking for my ideals outside of myself. I discovered it's not what the world holds for you, it's what you bring to it. The dreams dearest to my heart are right here." Anne Shirley led a rough life until she came to stay at Green Gables. Being an orphan she was passed around from different houses, but always dreamed of a place to call home. That dream came true when Mathew Cuthbert came and picked her up at the railway station, expecting to find a boy. But alas, she stole Mathew and Marilla's hearts, and quickly learned to call Green Gables her home, and ramble around in the "White Way of Delight," "Lake of Shining Waters," and of course "Lover's Lane!"

It's nicer to think dear, pretty thoughts and keep them in one's heart, like treasures".

"It's a serious thing to grow up, isn't it?....It's a great responsibility because I have only the one chance".

"There must be a limit to the mistakes one person can make, and when I get to the end of them, then I'll be through with them. That's a very comforting thought".

"It's such a solemn thing to be almost fourteen.....It's a perfectly appalling to think of being twenty. It sounds so fearfully old and grown up."

"I make so many mistakes. But then think of all the mistakes I don't make."

"Isn't it nice to think that tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet?"

"Kindred spirits are not so scarce as I used to think. It's splendid to find out there are so many of them in the world."

"Oh, it's delightful to have ambitions. Just as soon as you attain to one ambition you see another one glittering higher up still."

"That is the first time I was ever called 'Miss.' Such a thrill it gave me! I shall cherish it forever among my choicest treasures."

"It's been my experience that you can nearly always enjoy things if you make up your mind firmly that you will."

The Lady of Shalott

There she weaves by night and day
A magic web with colours gay.
She has heard a whisper say,
A curse is on her if she stay
To look down to Camelot.
She knows not what the curse may be,
And so she weaveth steadily,
And little other care hath she,
The Lady of Shalott.

The Lady of Shalott~Here is the whole poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson.
